This Tuesday, a new edition of the Euromaster gets underway at Playa de Las Américas — the championship for surfers aged 40 and over. Organized by the European Surfing Federation, the event will bring together more than 60 riders from across Europe, all ready to showcase their best surfing on the iconic left-hand wave of Las Palmeras.
This afternoon, the Competition Department released the heats and schedule for the opening day. Competitors were also informed of several updates compared to previous editions. For 2025, the +35 category has been removed, leaving only two divisions: +40 and +50. Both will crown the new European Masters Champions in the coming days.
Lanzarote surfer Christian Jiménez, Spain’s +40 champion last June in Asturias, arrives as one of the leading contenders for the title. The Canarian rider won the now-discontinued +35 category last year in Las Américas, where he finished ahead of Dani García, another key name to follow.
The Cantabrian surfer, who also finished runner-up at the Spanish Championships this year behind Jiménez, returns to his signature event in excellent form. García will look to defend his +50 title for the third consecutive year, while also seeking revenge against the rival who has denied him several recent victories.
This event would not be possible without the support of institutions such as Turismo de Arona; the Cabildo, through Turismo de Tenerife and the Tenerife Awaken Emotions brand; Islas Canarias and the Gobierno de Canarias; as well as brands like Spring Hotels and Corona, and collaborating companies such as Surfactory, Local Motion, Quirónsalud, Papagayo Tenerife and Veinte 04.
The full schedule of activities and all the latest updates from the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro are available on the event’s official website (lasamericassurfpro.com) and on its social media channels (@lasamericasurfpro).
