Finals day in Arona. The Euromaster celebrated its big moment in Las Américas with the decisive rounds of the three titles at stake. Under solid conditions, the Masters surfers proved that their talent remains as sharp as ever, delivering a show worthy of their level to the crowd gathered at the Spanish Left.
Jonathan González (16.00)—a Tenerife surf legend and one of the greatest riders in Canary Islands history—was crowned European Champion in the +40 division. In the final, he outscored France’s Michael “Miky” Picon (13.30), fellow Tenerife surfer Ayose Fernández (10.40), and Gran Canaria’s Julián Cuello (7.55), in a showdown where all four proved they can still compete with anyone.
“It wasn’t in my plans to compete here. Miky came to Tenerife on vacation and convinced me to sign up. We’ve known each other for many years, he’s a good friend, we’ve had plenty of battles, and it was really fun to meet again in the water”, said González after his victory.

In the women’s division, Elizabeth Tacoronte (9.00) claimed victory to become the +40 European Champion. The Canary Island surfer topped the direct final ahead of Russia’s Irina Tariuc (4.90), last year’s champion, as well as Renata de Olivera (4.70) and Mónica Díaz Luque (4.55).
“It wasn’t easy because of the conditions — there were very few waves — but it’s always a luxury to compete on this break. Even with very little, you can still have a great time. The people, the girls, the atmosphere… it’s been a real pleasure”, Tacoronte said.

The last final of the day was the +50 division, where Cantabria’s Dani García (14.50) successfully defended his title, becoming European Champion in the +50 category for the third consecutive year. In the final, he finished ahead of Portugal’s Joao Antunes (13.25), Luciano Casillas (10.15), and local surfer Félix Trujillo (3.70).
The three-time European champion highlighted the effort behind the win: “I’m very happy with how I held up both physically and mentally. Yesterday I had a bad day, and today I had to make it through several repechage rounds and surf many heats before reaching the final to have the chance to defend my title”.

This edition of the Euromaster comes to a close after yet another year of growth, welcoming an increasing number of participants and bringing together more European talent than ever. As Arona’s mayor Fátima Lemes highlighted, “the Euromaster is much more than a competition: it is a meeting point between generations, a celebration of the talent that has shaped the history of European surfing and continues to inspire those who are just starting out.”
“For Arona, it is an honor to welcome surfers who have been international icons and who, thanks to events like this, remain connected to competition through the experience and passion that define them. Our municipality firmly believes in the value of sport—its power to bring people together and showcase the best of our destination. We thank all participants, both local and from across Europe, for continuing to choose Arona as their gathering point,” she added.
The Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro now heads into its final stretch, and it is time for the Eurokids, the competition for the youngest surfers, featuring Europe’s best riders under 14. Competition directors have declared a Lay Day for Friday, December 5, so the festival’s final event will begin on Saturday.
This event would not be possible without the support of institutions such as Turismo de Arona; the Cabildo, through Turismo de Tenerife and the Tenerife Awaken Emotions brand; Islas Canarias and the Gobierno de Canarias; as well as brands like Spring Hotels and Corona, and collaborating companies such as Surfactory, Local Motion, Quirónsalud, Papagayo Tenerife and Veinte 04.
