The first day of competition for the event’s most experienced surfers began today in Las Américas. Athletes over the age of 40 opened the Euromaster, which will continue through December 4th within the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro. For the first time in this year’s edition, the Spanish Left offered suitable conditions for competitors to demonstrate their surfing abilities.
From 9:00 a.m., the event featured surfers with a long record of success in Las Américas—such as Cantabrian athlete Dani García and local surfer Matías Hernández—together with last year’s champion, Lanzarote’s Christian Jiménez, and distinguished European surfer Michael “Miky” Picon, who spent many years competing on the World Surf League.
All advanced through their opening rounds in the +40 division (with García also progressing in +50), joining other distinguished participants including Pablo Solar, former national coach, Félix Trujillo, Jorge Imbert, and Jonathan González.
This Wednesday, starting at 9:00 a.m., competition is scheduled to continue—weather permitting—with rounds two and three. In addition, from 6:00 p.m., the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro will offer another Corona Sunset Session, featuring a DJ performance by Doppler Effect.
This event would not be possible without the support of institutions such as Turismo de Arona; the Cabildo, through Turismo de Tenerife and the Tenerife Awaken Emotions brand; Islas Canarias and the Gobierno de Canarias; as well as brands like Spring Hotels and Corona, and collaborating companies such as Surfactory, Local Motion, Quirónsalud, Papagayo Tenerife and Veinte 04.
The full schedule of activities and all the latest updates from the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro are available on the event’s official website (lasamericassurfpro.com) and on its social media channels (@lasamericasurfpro).
