Tenerife is once again set to become the epicentre of European surfing with a new edition of the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro. From 22 November to 8 December, the festival will welcome the continent’s top surfers in a multidisciplinary event that brings together sport, culture, social engagement and environmental protection through a wide programme of activities across 17 days.
The presentation event was attended by Fátima Lemes, Mayor of Arona; Luis Sierra, Councillor for Sports; Naím Yánez, Councillor for Tourism; Miguel Villarroya, General Director of Spring Hotels; Víctor González, board member of Club Varada; and Matías Hernández, local surfer and multiple European Masters champion in Las Américas, as well as event promoter Jose Fernández.
Arona’s Mayor, Fátima Lemes, expressed her satisfaction, noting that “Las Américas Pro once again places Arona on the international map of sport and tourism. This is an event that goes far beyond competition — it boosts the local economy, revitalises Playa de Las Américas and strengthens our commitment to a sustainable, active and globally open municipality.”
For Dimple Melwani, CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, “Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro has established itself as one of the most vibrant surf gatherings in the Atlantic. This year we return with even more international talent, more public activities and an even stronger commitment to our natural environment.”
She also highlighted that “for Tenerife, hosting an event of this calibre is a valuable opportunity to stimulate economic activity, strengthen our destination’s image and promote a model of tourism rooted in sport, sustainability and wellbeing — values fully aligned with those of Spring Hotels as the event’s main sponsor.”
Naím Yánez, Arona’s Councillor for Tourism, pointed out that “Spring Surfest brings together everything our destination aims to promote: active tourism, culture and music in a single event. It is a key example of the kind of internationally projected festival we want Arona to host.”
Meanwhile, Luis Sierra, Councillor for Sports, emphasised that “Arona once again hosts a top-level event, featuring four official championships and more than 300 surfers. We are proud to offer exceptional conditions and to continue supporting competitions that foster grassroots sport, physical activity and local talent.”
Miguel Villarroya, Director of Spring Hotels, stated that “for us, being the main sponsor of Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro is, above all, an affirmation of our identity and values. We reaffirm our commitment to showcasing a vision of the Canary Islands that goes beyond sun and beach, supporting an event that unites surf, culture, music and, crucially, social and environmental awareness. Strategically, this festival is part of our mission to strengthen our position in the sports and active tourism segment.”
Víctor González, board member of Club Varada, stressed “the importance of the club, the event and the federations working together to protect natural spaces like this one, and to help local athletes feel proud — not hesitant — to share their home break, something we are achieving thanks to the work carried out by the club.”
This Saturday, 22 November, the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro kicks off with an opening party hosted by Corona, the event’s sponsor for the fifth consecutive year, under the “Corona Sunsets” concept (6:00 p.m.). The programme will feature live performances by Agua del Chorro and DJ sets by Jia Miles and Rayconen.
This event is made possible thanks to the support of institutions such as Turismo de Arona; the Cabildo of Tenerife through Turismo de Tenerife and the brand Tenerife Despierta Emociones; Islas Canarias; and Gobierno de Canarias, as well as main sponsor Spring Hotels and collaborators including Surfactory, Local Motion, Quirón Salud, Papagayo Beach Club and Veinte 04.
The full activity programme and all updates on the Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro are available on the event’s official website (lasamericassurfpro.com) and social media channels (@lasamericasurfpro).
